Life at Grace Mennonite Church

Grace Mennonite is an Anabaptist church which began in 1961. Today, approximately 280 people take part in various programs including:

  • Sunday morning worship services beginning at 10:00 am with children’s programming during the service
  • Adult Christian Formation – following the worship service
  • Little Bits of Grace (families with children)
  • Youth
  • Women’s Coffee Time
  • Seniors Coffee and Bible Study
  • Small Groups
  • Church family events throughout the year
  • Various outreach events and ongoing projects

This congregation supports the community Soup’s On program which operates in their facilities. They also support many other outreach programs in the community as well as being involved in service ventures beyond Steinbach through Mennonite Church Manitoba, Mennonite Central Committee, Mennonite Disaster Service and other local organizations.

Pastor

Mel has been in Steinbach since 2004. He comes to Steinbach from Saskatchewan which may account for the predominant color green, in his office. Mel and his wife Enid have three grown children living away from home. They value the community they are part of at Grace and hope to Worship and Serve Christ with those gathered here. Mel enjoys taking time to garden, spend an afternoon on a bike or cross-country skis or in a canoe, watch the Leafs or Riders and enjoy a good cup of coffee with friends. He’d like to share that cup of coffee with you so feel free to drop by at the office anytime.

Kyle Penner

Associate Pastor

Kyle Penner started as associate pastor at Grace in 2010. Growing up in Steinbach and Grace, he spent 5 years as a youth pastor in Winnipeg. He is married to Ashley Penner, a teacher in Hanover School Division. He loves to create spaces for people to encounter God, and to accompany young people as they mature in their faith. Kyle loves paddling his canoe, reads anything he can get his hands on, and plays the two best sports in the world: ultimate frisbee, and curling.

Custodian

Michael joined the Grace Staff as Custodian Jan 2017.He has been attending Grace since the day he was born and enjoyed volunteering as a youth Sponsor for many years. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing games or sharing a meal. He spent many summers as a Camps With Meaning staff filling the roles of cabin leader, kitchen helper, maintenance, and wrangler. He has a passion for photography, capturing events of the day, the nature around us, individuals and families.
